Committee Reports:
Streets
Rice reported that Blacktop Service will be here the week of the 19th to start on the streets. They will start with the streets that need hot mix first, and then come back at a later time for the seal coating. Rice reported that Ridge View Estates would need some patchwork this year because of the poor base under that road.
Water
Rice reported that Cohrs Construction has about 300 feet left of the water project.
Parks & Rec.
Petersen reported that the Iowa’s Living Roadways Project Program grant for the trees along Ridge View Estates and Howard Titterington Park had been approved. We have until June 30th to complete the planting. Petersen will ask Gary Fisk about the white pines that have winterkill by Traughber’s house.
Unfinished Business
Petersen Signs had contacted Rice to find out what colors the Council wanted for the sign north of The Washhouse. The Council decided on blue for the lake, white for the letters, tan for the background and to take the star off the sign. Rice had talked to K & K Masonry about the stone pillars going on both sides of the sign and how wide the footings should be for the stone. Sieh stated that we could get any size of sonic tubes we need for installing the sign. Council is still looking into using solar lights for the sign.
Petersen/Booth/carried to approve the sign
Petersen/Paxton/carried to accept the Easement Exchange Agreement for the Altel Tower
Jeff Berkland, spokesperson for a group that would like to hold a concert at the Lutheran Church, was present to explain what their intent would be. Berkland explained that they would expect about 1000 people and would sell pop and pizza. The concert would start at about 7:30p.m. and would be over about 10:30p.m. with a light show at the end of the concert. Dan Thomsen explained they would have room to park cars to the north of the church and the concert would be to the west of the church. They would have a crew to clean the area once the concert was over.
Ladegaard/Sieh/carried to allow the outdoor concert.
Ladegaard/Booth/carried to accept the bid from Spencer International for a tractor, blower and mower for $37830.00.
Council set June 9th, 2008 at 6:30p.m. for public hearing for the Preliminary Plat of Eastview Estates.
Rice explained that he had received a letter back from Mark and Susan Rosales that they have a contract for their property rental showing they have rented in October 2007 and again in April 2008. Ladegaard directed Rice to contact the Rosales for a copy of the contract.

Petersen/Paxton/carried to adjourn at 8:00 p.m.
