COMMITTEE REPORTS:
STREETS:
Rice reported that Blacktop Service would be here to finish Milford Street next week.
PARKS & REC:
Petersen reported that she had contacted Steve Holland about planting the lot south of the City Shed and the money was available, so the City could proceed with this project
Rice is to check with the cell tower people to see if it would be ok to plant trees along there south lot line. Rice will also get bids for adding parking area to the lot south of the City Hall.
FINANCE:
Rice reported that the banks would like to have the Cities bank statements for a year. The Council directed Rice to give copies of the Cities bank statements. Booth suggested doing short term CD’s also.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Rice reported that Peterson Mfg would need a crane to lift the sign into place. Rice had contacted Midstates and had a crane available. Rice also reported that he had contacted Amy’s Sign Design for the Letters on the building, which would be 18-inch black letters.
The Council reviewed City of Milord’s Ordinance No 2-08, concerning Golf Cart operation on City Streets. After discussion, the Council directed Rice to make the changes and they would review the draft at the September Meeting.
Traughber reported he had met with Bruce Lefever on how the City could work with Alliant Energy on burying electric lines. The problems with burying lines in our town is the right of ways are already filled with gas lines and telephone. Ladegaard had materials from the City Attorney pertaining to burying lines.
NEW BUSINESS:
Traughber had received a letter from Bob Walk, stating that he had volunteered to water the trees at the old City Hall, but has encountered several large piles of dog droppings. He felt for the last several years this has been used for a dumping ground. Mr. Walks stated at Speier’s Park in Okoboji they installed small stations for droppings. Traughber had Rice check on prices for the stations prior to the meeting. The cost per station is $241.00 plus shipping. The Council thought this would be a good ideal for all three parks. Motion/Ladegaard/Paxton/carried to authorize Rice to purchase three stations and install them.

Rice report that the City had four large trees that needed to be removed. Council directed Rice to get bids by the next Meeting.
Rice reported that he had silt fence problems with a contractor in the City. The pictures that he had taken did not turn out the best. Rice would like the Council to consider a new camera, so that we could enforce the ordinance. The Council authorized Rice to purchase a camera.
Ladegaard and Rice will also meet with City Attorney on how to document Rental Properties.
