Rice reported that he and Sieh would have the street projects for the spring of 2009 ready for review at the next Council Meeting, November10. Rice will also have a cost on installing 4 new streetlight. The location of the streetlights would be along Three Cross Road and inbetween the Taco House and the Wash House along Terrace Park Blvd.
WATER:
Rice explained that the City still using the outside meter reader. With all the older meters in the system this would be the time to switch to radio readers. The Council agreed, and directed Rice to get quotes for the next Council Meeting. Rice had been in contact with Milford Municipal Water on what water rate were going to be for next year. The rate will increase 3% a year for the next 3 years.
PARKS & REC:
Petersen was absent, but had instructed Rice on all the projects. The Howard Titterington Park plantings need to be done by November 1st. Petersen would like to get the playground done this fall, as we will be seeding the rest of the area. Petersen would like us to plant the lot south of the City Hall this week. Rice explained that it would more than likely be to wet this week, but will schedule it another day. Petersen is also working on grants for planting trees along Three Cross Road for the spring of 2009. Rice told the Council that the City would have to buy more snow fence and fence posts due to using them for rapping trees for deer protection. Ladeguaard wondered if the snow fence was necessary. Rice thought by not putting along Terrace Park Beach area it would create a real problem. Council agrees that snow fence helps that area and to go ahead with the purchase of fence and post.
FINANCE:
Rice was directed to make appointments for the Finance Committee to me with Bank Representatives.
UNFINISHED BUSINEESS:
Rice reported that the sign for Howard Titterington Park would be here within the next 4 weeks. Rice and Ladegaard are still working on Rental properties.
NEW BUSINESS:
Rice had a request from Ryan Rohlk for a snow fence to be installed across from his home to contain the neighbor leafs. The Council agreed that they would not because of all the area in the City that has the same situation with adjacent wooded areas. They also would like to make sure Rice enforces the City Code on the weed problem on the lots across from Rohlk’s home
Rice had a request from Mary Ann Montgomery to post minutes at our old City Hall because the people in that neighborhood had no idea what’s going on in the City. The Council agreed that this is our new City Hall and the minutes will be post out side on this City Hall. Also post on our Web Site.
Rice had a request for speed bumps along Okoboji Blvd by the old City Hall. Ladeguaard had concerns about whether this was only one resident or if this is something the entire neighborhood wanted. Rice was directed by the Council to look into rumble strips instead if speed bumps. The Council then would send letters to adjacent neighbors for there thoughts.
Chuck Kumme had been in contact with Rice about a spec house that Bates Construction has under construction adjacent to Krumme’s home. Rice explained that the house had been done within the 18 months but the landscaping was not finished and that was Chuck Kumme’s concern. Rice was directed to meet with Mr. Bates to get a time line when the landscaping would be finished.
