Dickinson County Emergency Medical Services Association had requested funding for EMS and Fire training at a rate of $.75 per capita. The City’s share would be $374.00.
Motion/Ladegaard/Petersen/carried to approve the funding
The prevention Department of Compass Pointe, formerly know as Northwest Iowa Alcoholism and Drug Treatment Unit, had requested funding with a suggested base rate at 30% of the amount the city receives from the state portion of the alcohol license fees. The only alcohol license the city collects from would be O Shucks. The Council tabled the funding, till Rice had seen what the City had done in the past.
NEW BUSINESS
Steve Litts explained all the projects the trails had done and current projects. Steve also had met with the Lutheran Church concerning the trail through the Church property. To run the trail through the Church property (additional 570’) instead along Hwy 86 would be an additional $43000.00. The Church would have no funding for this project. Litts add if they were just to run it around the new sign the Church had proposed for the intersection of Three Cross Road and Hwy 86 that additional cost would only be $400.00. The Council agreed to additional cost of $400.00 but would not have funding for the $43000.00. Petersen added that along Three Cross Road the WOW group would be planting trees if the grant money came though.
Appointments to the Planning and Zoning and Board of Adjustment were approved by the Council. Rice had check with surrounding city’s on what compensation to their Boards and Elected Officials were. The compensation for the Planning and Zoning and Board of Adjustment was set at $25.00 per meeting. At the next election for the City Council their compensation would be set a $50.00 per meeting.
