Fire Chief, Jim Carpenter and Asst Chief, Doug Hanna from the Milford Fire Department were present to answer any question the Council had about Milford’s Fire Department. Carpenter explained that one of the projects he had been working on was to get the fire department to a level 4, which would drop our insurance rate.
Petersen asked what that would entail? Carpenter explained that they evaluated the training of their personnel and equipment. Carpenter stated that they had around 308 calls to the City of West Okoboji over the last year. Carpenter added that at Milfords January Council Meeting they would send bids out for the new Fire Station. Carpenter expects the bids this time to be under $2,810,000. Bids will be opened at Milford’s February Council meeting.
Do to the weather Jack Hardie from the Great Lakes Rotary Club was not present. Rice explained that Mr. Hardie had been going around to the different Councils and Boards to ask them to adopt a resolution to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Traughber directed Rice to have the Pledge of the Allegiance on the Agenda right after roll call.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Traughber and Rice met with Alliant Energy on burying electrical lines in the City. Alliant had maps with the City split into 5 Districts. Out of the 5 Districts the place the City has had problems have been in the Terrace Park area. This area of the City has more right-of-way for utility boxes. The price Alliant Energy quoted would not include burying any secondary lines. The Council would like to know the price for burying secondary lines also. Traughber and Rice will contact Alliant Energy for a new quote.
Rice reported that the City had donated $500.00 to Compass Pointe in 2007.
